Last Update:
Fourteenth, Greeting each other on Eid:
Greeting each other on Eid is legislated. Shaykh Al-Islaam Ibnu Taymiyyah said:
"As for greeting on the Day of Eid, where some say to others when they meet after the Eid salah: 'May Allaah accept from us and from you' (TaqabbalaLlaahu minna wa minkum), and 'May Allaah make it return to you' (Ahalahu Allaahu alayk), and similar phrases, this has been narrated from a group of the Companions that they used to do it, and the Imams, such as Imaam Ahmad and others, permitted it. However, Ahmad said:
'I do not initiate it with anyone, but if someone initiates it with me, I respond to him.'
This is because responding to a greeting is obligatory, whereas initiating the greeting is not an enjoined Sunnah, nor is it something forbidden. So, whoever does it has a precedent, and whoever leaves it also has a precedent." check out Majmoo' Al-Fatawa (24/253).
Fifteenth, Being generous to your family:
It is permissible for a man to be generous to his family on this day with food and drink, and with some permissible amusement. From Aaishah رضي الله عنها who said:
"Abu Bakrin entered, and with me were two girls from the Ansar reciting poetry about what the Ansar said on the day of Bu'ath." She said: "And they were not professional singers." Abu Bakrin said: "The flutes of Satan in the house of the Messenger of Allaah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ?!"
And that was on an Eid day. The Messenger of Allaah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: "O Abu Bakrin! Indeed, every people has an Eid, and this is our Eid." Agreed upon.
In conclusion, stay away from bid'ah and sins:
One should be wary of committing innovations and sins, such as reviving the night of Eid (with specific acts of worship not legislated), dedicating visits to graves, abandoning congregational salawaat, mixing between strange non related men and women, and a woman going out perfumed and displaying her adornment (tabarruj).
All praise is due to Allaah, the Lord of all existence.
